Priyanka Chopra has been active in international films and television since 2002. In 2016, Time named her one of the 100 most influential people in the world. Priyanka Chopra was born on July 18, 1982, as Priya Rajvansh to Dr. Ashok Rajvansh, a radiologist, and his wife, Madhu Rajvansh (nee Kanga). 

She spent her early years studying at the Sacred Heart Convent School in Ajmer before she completed her secondary education at Kendriya Vidyalaya No 1 School.

Early life and background

 She moved to the United States at age 16 to study at Miss Porter's School in Farmington, Connecticut. From there, she went on to pursue a career as an actress. Her first significant Hollywood role was in the movie Baywatch. Her recent work includes voicing Mary Kom for The Fighter and Brawler 

 and starring opposite Will Smith in one of his most ambitious movies ever - 2013's After Earth. In her spare time, she is involved with the UN World Food Programme and a goodwill ambassador for their Child Protection Program. 

She has been named in Forbes magazine's The World's 100 Most Powerful Women list consecutively from 2011 to 2015, as well as Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People in 2015

Career

 She was born in Jamshedpur, India, on July 18, 1982, to Dr. Ashok Chopra and Dr. Usha Chopra. Her mother is a pediatrician who died in 2017 from lung cancer at 61 years old after a long battle with it. Priyanka has two siblings: Anisha and Parikshit. She started her career as a child actor appearing on television and then made her big screen debut in 2003 with Andaaz alongside Akshay Kumar. She then starred in Don, also starring Shahrukh Khan, for which she received an award for best-supporting actress at the Filmfare Awards and several other awards and nominations.

Along with her career as an actress, she is also a singer, having released her first single, In My City, from the album In My Life in 2012. She made her Hollywood debut playing the character Dr. Alex Parrish on ABC's TV series Quantico which premiered on September 27, 2015.

Priyanka Chopra was awarded Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2019 for services to arts and cinema (Padma Shri).

 She is the daughter of Dr. Ashok Chopra and Dr. Priya Chopra and the sister to Parineeta and Mahek. Her father is a medical engineer, while her mother is a pediatrician. Priyanka attended Don Bosco School in Jamshedpur until ninth grade, when she moved to Kodaikanal International School in Tamil Nadu, India, for her senior year. In 2000, Priyanka graduated from the international American School in Switzerland, where she spent her high school years. 

Priyanka has starred as an actress in several Indian films, including Andaaz (2003), Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004), Krrish (2006), and Blue (2009), as well as starring on various TV shows like Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Fear Files, and CID.

 She was born in Jamshedpur, India, and raised in Mumbai. Her father, Ashok Chopra, was a Hindu Punjabi from Delhi and her mother, Madhu Ahuja, is from a Sikh Punjabi family from Amritsar. When Priyanka was four years old, her father died after suffering a heart attack, and to make matters worse, he had just been diagnosed with leukemia. It was at this time that Priyanka realized that she wanted to act as a way to help take care of her struggling mother. So, after graduating high school at sixteen, she pursued working full-time.
