However, it was not until after her family emigrated to Canada that Nancy decided to pursue singing as a profession. 

After graduating from high school in Toronto, she enrolled at Concordia University for international commerce, where she graduated with honors. 

In 2005, Nancy returned to Lebanon to launch her career as a singer by collaborating with well-known artists like Ragheb Alama and Nawal Al Zoghbi. 

Her debut album Nancy - The Girl Next Door, sold more than 700,000 copies worldwide within two months of its release.


Her parents are Nabil Ajram and Raymonda Aoun.

That year, she won two more awards: The Silver Otto and Platinum Otto in Germany. 

She also started touring around Europe and North America to promote her album Ah W Noss. In 2007, she released her most successful album Ya Salam: Youm Wa Layali. The title track from that album remains Ajram's biggest hit to date, with over 4 million views on YouTube alone.

The title came from French president Nicolas Sarkozy calling her Best of Nelly. She sings mainly in Arabic and does not sing anything besides this language. In 2006 she won four awards for the song Hayat El Omr.
